The South Tower

The South Tower, the most southerly point of the defence system, needed to be large and strong as the slope below it is less formidable than elsewhere around the jebel. Built around a massive outcrop of stone, it is 13.25 m long, projects 15.75 m forward at the north and 8 m at the south, and there was also an inward extension.

The South Tower, along with the rest of the walls, was surveyed and inspected in the years 1984-1986.
